Hey guys,

I'm looking for a light (150g) jigging rod and reel, for out in the gulf.

I dont mind if its a spinner or OH, I like both.

Any recommendations would be appreciated, not been fishing for a while but looking to get back into it this year.

L.

Micro jigs, slow pitch, or inchikus?

I have a Smiths SLP with a calcutta 200d. Works great for softbaits, casting jigs and Inchikus, but not ideal for slow pitch in my experience.

I have a Abu Velocity 2-5kg with a Stradic. Bought for trout but works for casting jigs as well, as long as the weight isn't more than 40g.

I much prefer the overhead for vertical fishing. Spin for casting away from the boat.

Wow I must have not been fishing for a while as I don't know half of the words in your setances haha!

Think I'll need to take a few trips out and a few more trips to the fishing tackle shop and see what an inchikus is...

I have an old Kojak 300 and jig master pe6 for mechanical jigging, mostly at the alderman but a little big for out in the bay.

Thanks for the tips, time to check em out and decide how much I want to spend!

Inchiku are two part lures with a squid like skirt attached to a weight. There are a lot of videos and articles on how to use them, even on this site. Best fished with a slow yoyo motion. You can also just leave them in a rod holder or even bait the hooks.

Slow pitch look more like a conventional jig but the action and ideal rod are a bit different. I bought some slow pitch but never used them much.

Jigstar just released new range of slowpitch rods. They look the goods and wont break the bank. If you looking at something bit more higher end for slowpitch / slow jig can always look at Evergreen Poseidon or Hots Stiletto Slow Style.

Where can you buy the Synit rods mentioned above? Looking at the Jig Star slow jerk 603-3 and Accurate BV300 for kabura, inchiku, slow pitch fishing myself.
