Ive got a fyran 600 pursuit gt and was wondering if a massey ferg 28 would be sweet to pull it? Got a little hill to get up on the way back too. The sand is firm also. Any help would be great

Nice work Uncle.

Dan, i had a Fergy 28 that i used to tow a 6.8m tinny.  Never used it on the sand but the tractor struggled on a steep ramp (Royal Billy at Pauanui).  Ugly feeling when the boats towing the tractor.
Went to a David Brown 990 and never looked back. Now using it on a bigger glass boat.

Bit different off the sand.  PM AlexFysher (?) I think he has just bought one to tow off the sand, otherwise 'Don18025' has a heap of knowledge in respect of this topic.

Hope that helps.

We used a Massey 28 to tow a 6 meter tinny. Heaps of grunt. Only problem was reversing down the ramp. Massey brakes are crap in reverse. Adequate when going forward though

I agree with GiB.
The Fergie 28 is a good lightweight tractor on the level.
Brakes are a problem, and they lack a limited slip diff, plus the petrol engine lacks grunt.
Try and get a diesel, the pulling power will make a hell of a difference.

I run a David Brown 770 for my 6.5HT tinnie, does a fantastic job, no hills for me and Manly beach isn't that steep, mate has an 880 he tows his 6.2 glass boat and launches at Red beach fine as well...
