I have a Daiwa Monster Mesh jig rod that the reel seat has come loose on and twists through 60+ degrees where is the best around Auckland to get it fixed?  Or anyone else experienced this and have a quick fix?

Cheers

make a gap  just enough and squirt araldite down it clean it up and then let it set.. or strip the lower end off and redo the seat and lower end...what i would do...or take it to yehaa and see what they can do :)

Take it to where you brought it from, how old is it and how much work has it done? reel seat spinning should be a replacement in theory from the wholesaler.

Cheers Hookerpuka unfortunately I cant even remember where I bought it (too much tackle bought since then).  It has had a good workout but nothing out of the ordinary.

If it's anything like the Saltiga jigging rods Daiwa will have used nylon rope packed under the reel seat with a semi clear two pot glue... yep that's right rope!!!!  there is only one way real way to fix it and it means a total strip of the guides, forgrip and old reel seat then a new reel seat and forgrip installed before putting all the guides back on.... a good project for a casual rod builder but expensive if you take it for repair to a tackle shop...
Don't let them fool you into thinking it can be repaired by re-glued the seat, they will do this by either drilling 3-4 small holes in the reel seat and injecting glue or by injecting glue from each end of the reel seat...it won't be successful for long trying to rebond the rope to the blank and reel seat....

Cheers for the help one and all.  Turns out the answer was one I hadn't anticipated.

Greg from Gofish on the shore Pm'd me and said bring it in I will see what I can do.  Walked in the door and he simply exchanged it for a brand new one. Simply outstanding service greg. Thumbs Up

He also had another Monster Mesh there that it had happened to and he had dropped the grips etc off the bottom and re glued the reel seat and had come out better than before.

I believe as far as service goes we are very well looked after in retail fishing industry but yesterdays example was something that will definitely make it my first port of call for purchases no questions.
