Hi everyone, last chance to land the big one before Christmas!!! We have 2 spots available on Sat the 7th December to fish the productive waters of north cape, leaving from Houhora. Myself and a mate plan to target the monster kingfish of the far north on live baits/jigs. Here is what Lionel has to say about the fishing up there.

North Cape lies approximately 25 nautical miles North of Houhora Harbour on New Zealands East Coast in the far north of the north island. As with most of the fishing locations up here in the far north, much of the inshore reef systems and bars recieve very little fishing pressure. The coastline is littered with hundreds of reef systems and outcrops of headland and the odd small rocky island. The fishing has to be seen to be believed. Simmons Island at times is rich with top water action which attracts large schools of Kingfish which can be targeted on either live baits or stick baits and poppers. Practically any of the headlands can hold fish it's just a matter of how many hours in the day. Travel up Great expedition Bay a beautiful White sands beach where you can catch big snapper and trevally and target top water action under feeding birds, where practically anything might happen. North Cape is rich with deep water reef systems which hold Hapuka, gemfish, and kingfish, either on jigs or on baits, Kingfish to 32 kg at present but again some big fish cruise here so the majic 40 kg fish is achievable. Plenty of shallow reefs at the Cape to cast stick baits, poppers or soft baits. We travel to the North Cape on our vessel "Memorymaker" the trip generally takes around 55 minutes from the Houhora Heads cruising at 22 knots Maximum of 4 anglers rate is $1250 + gst per day for the boat

Cheers

Good times up there boys. We gt a trip booked nov to the kings and usually have a fish round those areas on the way out or back. The trevelly are huge and the softbaiting is outstanding. Graeme has kitted memory makers with the best so you wont be under gunned..Lionel is a fun guy with a huge knowledge of this area. Highly reccomend his charters!!
