Do we have Solarez UV resin for sale here?

What are tips for making resin heads on lures?

Mate, a lot of blokes just use 5 minute Epoxy.

There is a product developed by a dentist though that uses UV light to set it (make it go off). Kinda like the same stuff they use for your fillings.
Bloody expensive and not much better than the epoxy IMHO.

Resin just takes too long to actually set - you'd drive yourself mad trying to stop the resin glooping all over the place if you're tying flies.

Anyway, my 02c worth - hope it helps.

Mate, just your standard hardware store.
I do find it works out better to get the bigger tubes.

There is wastage no matter how careful you are unfortunately.
I try to just mix up enough for the batch of flies I'm doing.

I haven't tried that Solarez that Steve put the link up to on TM.
Can't comment on it mate.

PS - if you try it, post up results and let us all know how it worked.
Be interested to know if the stuff yellows?

I'm not rushing in to get the Solarez.
Have invested in a 2 tube epoxy mix.
So far it looks like something the dog might leave behind.
Will check out a hardware store this afternoon!

Got tired of inferior results and bought into Bug-Bond. Haven't tied larger flies yet, Just #16s and #14s. Superb results, sets quickly, clear and has some flexibility. The thin nozzle attachments are good in getting the stuff in the right place. It does have a very strong smell though.

I don;t find it any better than The Loon stuff. I like the Loon stuff,

having said, that... spend some time with epoxy, I was talking today with Pat Swift about it... it's not that hard, but you have to learn the tricks and quirks... just put the time in, it gets better with every batch. I like the convenience of the UV setters for one off stuff, but if you prepare, a batch of epoxy flies is no big deal.
