3 days solid fishing central NI stillwaters, managed to lose quite a few flies in weed, fish, trees. Wasn't until I reorganised the fly box that i realised how extensive the carnage had been. 2 nights of tying later and I'm still not there... getting closer though.

Hi Nick,
Please don't tell me you only lose Christmas trees. What are the trade secrests for Taupo and lake "O"? Traditional patterns ? Promise I will keep it a secret - just post here.
Always keen for somebody to fish with on Lake "O" - I have got a small pontoon boat so if you or any fellow fishers fancy a trip there give us a pm as we are here visiting family for 6 mths and need a break and
get the fly rod out !
Cheers
john

Dunno about secrets JV, only that on the day the fish will eat what they eat. There's a really good article in the spring edition of Flylife by Gary Lyttle and given he fishes the region more in a week than I do in a year I'd probably look there for advice. Wink
Also this article by Rene Vaz is a goodie http://www.manictackleproject.com/articlesflyfishingtackleforstillwaterslakespondsreserviours/
