Any one know if the OTI tuna sniper 24kg rods are any good for stick baits, or are these primarily a stiffer popper rod? I'm kinda new to the game, got a Backbone elite popping rod that is way too stiff for stick baits and just rips tham straight out of the water, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

I trialed out the 24kg model OTI Tuna Sniper a while back.

Value for money its not a bad rod.

They have a very sensitive tip section and work stickbaits very well. I used lures from 60gm-120gm with it no problem and it casts very well.

The rod action under load isn't as friendly on the angler as some of your more expensive and specialist brands but its still usable. I would be more careful with the OTI casting rods when it comes to high sticking compared with other expensive specialist brands too just because it has a fair bit more backbone than other rod actions and doesn't fold away as the others do so yeah when under a reasonable amount of load I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable lifting the rod over 45deg whilst trying to raise a fish.

Here is a pic of the 24kg model under load...

Cheers,
Josh
