Must admit to wondering whether or not I was crazy paying serious cash for a wooden bait, but after using it for the first time yesterday i wonder no longer.

We had a couple of boats out using different lures (nomads / poppers etc) and the only thing the kings would take was carpenters, we were blind casting in 40m of water around areas we know hold kings (we had caught them throughout the day on jigs) but not like the size that the stick baits obviously rose.

Mark from extreme had spent a bit of time showing me how to use them on a wharf but once I got the hang of it on the boat yesterday I was subsequently taken to the cleaners by two decent size kings in quick succession, who wouldn't stop coming until they swallowed that bait.

Loosing the fish partly due to trying to fight them from a stationery boat (not so smart) and partly due removing all the barbs off the hooks for mine and the fishes safety.

This is by far the most exciting fishing i have done and cant wait to get my hands on some more of these exceptional baits, I am now a true believer in how effective this form of fishing is and how exciting it is.

These are must have items for getting into this!

These lures really are that good, just think how effective they are going to be when the kingfihs are actually feeding on the surface.(which will be very soon).

I have to agree the carpenters were the business yesterday, I was using nomad stickbaits and got a few strikes and follows but no hook ups. I'm sure nomads (or others) would work well when the fish are aggressively feeding on the surface but to raise and hook the fish you can't look past the carpenters after yesterdays experience. I will definitely have to get a few carpenters, and what an exciting way to fish!

interesting, had a play with some saltiga stick baits off the shore recently and got a few follows but couldn't get a bite, the old faithful swimming pipers produced the goods though
