Hi Fella's

These are what I call Surf flies. In that they are used in a surf casting application. They are tied on tubing, so they can be interchanged onto different size hooks if the need arises.  Can be used alone or with the dreaded word (bait).  They are designed this way so that they can be slid up the trace to allow bait cottoning. (If required) then slid back down and locked with a sliding stop knot. Kind of a multi use Clouser I guess.  Anyway I made them and I think they are pretty cool.  Not to bad for my first time using Sellys Ultra Clear.

Certainly room for improvement, but I am at the bottom of the learning curve.  Personally I like big ones, as we normally have pretty murky water. But will do some smaller fella's this week.

Looks very interesting Hardy. Are those heads made out of foam balls?

No Foam balls Sooshee. However I do create the head shape roughly I want with the tying thread.

The head is then epoxied prior to putting the eyes on. By hand turning on the tying vice I can create  the head shape I want.  In about three minutes the epoxy will stop flowing. And I let it set.  The head is then painted with Tamiya Gloss Enamel Model Paint. When that is dry the eyes are epoxied on, then a small dab of epoxy goes on top of the eye to seal it and give it relief. When all dry a quick coat of Nail Polish.

The green one is one I didn't paint. Just relied on the thread color to show through the clear epoxy.

Cheers Trev

Cool Trev, keep them coming!

Cheers,
