Hoping this gets a reply...

Planning on trying for some sea run brownies in the waimak (chch) this spring, and thought I might have a go at tying some of my own flies. How much should I expect to pay to start out.

Saw this on trademe, but thought I would look to see if it would suffice before I dive on in.

Hope you do get into the tying grimace, it's a neat way of spending a quiet evening but believe me it's addictiveLOL
The few $'s you spend on the auction goods will be just the start.
Have fun & lets see some pics of your efforts as you progress.Thumbs%20Up

Not a bad price for a starter kit but some of the stuff included could be done without.
You will need other materials, namely hooks, tinsel, chinelle & feather capes.

My advise, for $60, go for it, the thrill of catching your first fish on a fly you tied yourself is monumental.
Good luck.

grimace;   I remember my first steps into the fly tying arena, and can only say your horizon is limitless.

Welcome to a new world. I hope you get your gear together without too much hassel and look forward to seeing your offerings. Remember the most important thing in fly tying. "Have Fun!"  Jack

your poor wife.......you will be lost to her henceforth,...... but a least it will keep you too poor to be able to afford a mistress, lol.
she was only a fishermans daughter, but she reeled at the sight of my rod!.
