Whilst fishing with chris, I had a pr knot unravel on meEmbarrassed. He pointed out that most people were doing their hitches under good tension. I now do the wrap around the feet trick and spread the legs. This allows me to use both hands to do the hitches. Also, I pay more attention to the finishing of the knot using the 5-6 wraps around the mainline like in the Jigs Direct pictorial-clinch knot? I like to use some small pliers to finally pull on the tag end.

Rizutto finishing knot (same as for a bimini twist) will not allow the PR knot to unravel and is both quicker and easier to do than a series of half hitches. Check out the Geoff Wilson knot book under game fishing. It is well worth it.

I used to do uni knot at the end but often get them bunching up untidily. Did the cinch knot like what jimi suggested and it is now sweet. Thumbs%20Up
RE. spreading the leg techniques, now I know why Poni and the other jigging meisters wear sandals, it is so that you can grip the leader and braid between the toes LOL

Lately I've been tying the PR knot shorter, ie less twist. Just wondering how short do ya rekon you can tie it without it losing strength.
I just tied one about 4cm long all up and loaded it up to 30kgs and it held. I'd try it heavier but my scales only go to 30kg. Obvioulsy not a real world test too but would be interested in how short people tie theres?

I'm sure you can get away with very short, say 12 turns then half hitches.  The FG knot only uses 15 turns and is another goodie Thumbs%20Up.  Looks like i may have to introduce a new knot to the boys eh?
give it death!
