Rodholder's right. the rain will take it out...
I fish that stream quite a bit and this time of year usually only use dries as they hit well off the top. Fish a dry dropper if you want to cover most options.

I was there last week, in the upper reaches. I had a blast with Clark's Cicada!! Tongue
Biggest was a 6lb Brown. I only fished dry, like Clark says. Cover all the runs in particular, as Whirinaki rainbows love the runs. Some will come up and suck it in gently. Others will come up with a big splash! This is my highlight of the year by far!

Thanks Clark, she's doing great. Keeping us busy for sure! Very demanding she is. But being a girl that's to be expected LOL.

I'm working on strengthening her grip, so she'll be able to hold on to a flyrod. I think we'll need a few more months...

Start em young Tore. She'll be much more discerning if brought up a fly fisher.

day 3 turned into a goody ,back to the truck early this morning for the ride home.
200m down the road my life flashed before my eyes , pig i grabbed my mates rifle worked the bolt and pulled the trigger ,, click ah **** , wheres the f en bullets bro ,, talk about gut wrenching , by which stage mr pig had worked out he could be in the **** and decided to hi tail it , all in all back country river was awsome  i saw a deer caught 5 trout and almose got a pig , ante nz great Wink

Yep, there's some real nice Browns in that river... Look for them along the very edges, not in the main flow. They are often in water just deep enough to cover their backs. Small Lacemoths work well!
