Hi guys
I was wondering if you could post some rough guides to tying a few cube flies (Clark + Craig come out, come out, where ever you aaaarre!)
I cant quite make out from the picture the ingredients to the "Snapper/cube" fly Clark posted on the other cube post, looks like a rabbity clouser.....?
and the rabbit cube fly, is there any body underneath the rabbit to give it some bulk?

As for hooks I cant get hold of SL12's round here and i see the 600SP's have issues, but i have a bucket of 600's will they be ok? The two look pretty similar to me (haven't had hold of an SL12) what are the differences? Ive got some SL15's that are the sharpest hooks ive come across.

Cheers dudes,
Trev

I'll try and put something up in the morn..... later today LOL

The bulk on the cube fly I posted is obtained by winding the fur on attached to the skin. Cut the pelt cross ways for best effect... hopefully I can post the tutorial soon... of course, I could go fishing instead... no guarantees

Here's one I nicked from someone who nicked it from Simon Chu. Brown rabbit, grey rabbit, sparkly stuff on cheap gammie red hook. This one got me a 3kg trev.

nup, the idea is for it to drift down the burley trail rather than sink.

I lead some of mine. I like to have a bit of variety in them. I find cube flies at their most effective when they drift and sink at the same rate as the burley. There can be variation in achieving this in different currents and depending on if you're fishing at anchor or drifting...

On the rocks I find it important to get the down fairly fast in the burley trail.

Like Nick, I use unweighted ones too.

The rabbitty Clouser is a "Draper's Snapper Fly" which Mark Draper himself describes as a "Rabbitty Clouser" funnily enough... Basically it a Brown and white clouser with  double Bunny strips in the middle. It has extra large Lead Eyes on his pattern though I tie mine with small bead chain right through to the heavy ones. I also like flies to sink at the same rate as the line wherever possible... rather than hanging too far above or below it.
