Thought I'd offer this to the keen jiggers on here first before it goes to TradeMe.

I already have a Shimano Ocea Jigger 4000P and a OJ 5000P so I've decided to sell my spare, new in the box OJ 5000P reel: $650 plus postage.

To import one of these reels from an overseas retailer, pay freight and GST, would cost you considerably more than this.

If a buyer wanted, I could install Carbontex washers and a Cal's drag plate for $75 extra. That is a bargain as the parts alone cost more than that. Cry

PM me if interested in this brilliant once only offer. Thumbs%20Up

The way you pull them in Scotty - the dark side is tempting. Approve

can you buy Ocea reels here? Pretty sure I saw one at WSL. Perhaps certain models are only available abroad. What's the deal chops/stella? What rod to mating her with? I looked at the JM powerspell and at 5ft long is it fine for boats like Pursuit which has decent rails?

WSL have the OJ4000 and OJ5000 models which have 4.9:1 gearing. They don't have the "P" versions which have the lower (power) gearing of 4.1:1 which are the models we prefer for deep jigging.

The OJ4000P and OJ5000P (which holds an extra 100m) are superb reels and perfectly matched to the rod you mention.

Looks like WS Lauries have swapped there 4000's for the 4000P's, saw some a couple of weeks back... seems Shimano NZ have landed some as a few retailers in NZ are selling them now... pricey mind you vs importing your own.

List on the box was $899 but I'm sure they would do a better price than that. A retailer in Whakatane was selling for about $750.

We have ChrisW to thank for the increasing popularity of these superb jigging reels by making us aware of them. The Shimano NZ importers, Douglas Johnson have capitalized on the demand. When the "Heavy Metal at Ranfurly" DVD makes its debut you'll see plenty of OJ 4000P's and 5000P's doing the biz on some big Kingis, pukes and bass.

what do you mean 'Shimano is Shimano'. I would expect any issues to be resolved in line with the 10 yr or is it now life time warranty.
