I'm also a bit unsure about the eyes Jax, especially those stick on dolls eyes. Time to do some more reading.

The baited breath has bead chain eyes. I hope this pattern will do the trick on tailing spotted grunter on the estuary mudflats in South Africa. Leaving next week.

So basically stick the eyes on with adhesive, then epoxy over the whole lot?

upstream; You seem to have "Enough Gun" to do well down at plattenberg. Glow Bugs Trimmed on either side almost flush with the hook should sort the Grunter. Ahh! the smell of Grunter cooking over the fire on a beach. Sweet Memories. Leervis Garrick now there is a fish that can give a good account of itself. My favourite for them were either "Pinkies" or "Karrenteen"[sp] On the surface an articulated Broomstick Plug painted white. Big S/W Flies Minnow style should do if you are fly fishing. "Springer" Great fish and good fighters. Big Silver flies with a dash of green. You have a few of those"G" Have More Fun.  Jax

The flies look very good. Excellent start. Deep minnows are especially productive when used sparsely tied. The Baited Breath can be deadly on Permit. However, having fished NZ waters for years I would think Trevally of the lesser size may find them most tasty. Deep minnows tied of bucktail of course are good for most anything that swims but if it is a toothy critter it'll be one fly to one fish. Obviously, you have developed skills in flytying with natural materials. Try some synthetics or mixed media as it were for mackerels and the like. Nearly all saltwater fish have sharp teeth and another fish to eat them as well. Good luck to you and keep up the fine work.
