Hey All

A quick update on the fishing out of Tairua.   Funny old weekend just been, red hot one day, a struggle the next...that's fishing I guess....

Mean day last Saturday, Wayne Merrick was out with us, having just flown out to NZ from Hong Kong, his mission was to catch a nice sized king and snapper, having never caught a NZ snapper...

On the water at 8am, mission achieved by 9.30am...



a nice 6kg snapper on a 400gm Williamson Big Pink

and a 17kg king on the same rig



That afternoon took the Butcher and Gardener out for an evening fish.

The softies working a treat while the sun was still up

The Butcher nabbing a nice 3pounder to start the ball rolling

Then a nice 4kg model on a GULP lime tiger


Switched to some good old fashioned strayling and berley as the sun set and an epic session with loads of fish in the 2kg-4kg mark.

Wish I could say the same about Sunday but it seems the fish may have tuned into the state of the nation after the AB's loss. Had our chances on a nice king in the morning, and then the snapper decided to take the day off....Sunday probably the worst day fishing in history, but that is fishing I guess.

Still loads going on fishing wise and lots of bait around. They better watch out this weekend coming.....

yeah wynder, the fish will be there labour weekend for sure. usually a great time for big snapper in around the aldys.

Why would he tow lures? This is October and Bender has told us that there are no marlin with in 200 miles of NZ, give yourself a Ouch

i will admit we towed some skippie lures on the way back for 20mins back in from the pins in case there was a rogue albert lurking.... water was green as a swimming pool in winter though, so at this stage i think that rum bottle is pretty safe....
