Saw one of these at Just Fishin on the Shore yesterday. Looked good, felt great which is even better. Being 5'2", it's a fairly short rod with plenty of grunt.

My question is � What style of jigging is a rod like this most suited to?
What's the cheapest type of meat? Dear balls. They're under a buck.

for snapper in 30mts to get the jig to move you would have to use braid and a fair bit of arm movement, but having the better action to deal to a decent size fish sure helps when the going gets hot......

I intend to use braid and most my forays would be around the inner gulf, so probably not going to need such a stump puller... I've got an old Penn Mariner and a Penn Kingfisher (think that's what it's called), both fairly heavy action, that I could put into service for that, I guess. Cheers.

i bought one of these a couple of days ago. used primarily for speed jigging long jigs so the rod length is less of a consideration. going to be fishing an acccurate boss reel on it with 24kg braid. awesome set up.

Those Jigwerx rods are solid man. Shimano seam to have put fairly conservative line ratings on them too. eg their rated 6-10kilo is probably more like a 24kilo. Mean looking blanks, very thick in the walls

These are quite slow in action and therefore put alot of action on the jig i used one this year at white and found it ok, But once hooked up it put alot of pressure on the angler the deep jig 400 is quicker and once hooked up was alot more comfortable on the angler .Once i had used both the deep jig was by far the more powerful fish mover!

Had one I bought for an intended popping trip for Giant Trevally. The Komodo Dragon is a high end serious weapon designed to throw heavy poppers and fight big GT's in rough terrain. It's rated 80-130lb. You could literally pull stumps with it.

I have the Shimano jig rod 400 with a torsa30 spooled to the lip with Jig star braid 37kg but these days I prefer a prototype jig rod Shimano built for WS Lauries that fell into my hands and I use my Avet Hoo-X 2 speed on that with againg 500m 37kg Jigstar braid.
The rod is a bit longer than the 400 and a bit softer in the tip but the extra length gets the jig moving very quick. The balance of the set allows me to jig Japanese style in a lift,wind lift wind manner for a good while before its time for a rest.
Plus the lugs on the reel allow me to power up when hooked up by clipping on the harness

Yeah I fondled some at a Japanese Jigging Exhibition recently.  Just another Japanese jig rod if you know what I mean?  There is plenty of neat stuff there but alot is probably too delicate for us ham fisted kiwi blokes.  I shudder to think of the potential for busted rods returning from guys not used to graphite rods on our over sized kingies Confused

I see when they were trialling this model, they caught and landed  60kg G/Ts in 5minutes.  Serious  pulling powerEvil%20Smile

I saw one of those Komodo rods used in anger 2 years ago in Indonesia and it landed a huge GT out of 3m of water. Serious bits of Japanese bling matched with a top end reel.
