BFH,

Heh heh heh...

hang out for a bit and I'll see if I can get the picture of the new "Viking Kayaks Tempo" it has a SWEEEEEEEEEEET setup for that.

Minn Kota 40 lbs thrust trolling motor you're looking at about 900 bones. Weighs 17kgs and another 25kgs for your battery. Yamaha 2.5HP 2stroke is only 9kgs! and fully self contained. I am wanting to put one on a Scrambler XT But, the chief financial officer, a.k.a. "THE WIFE" wont release the funds.

Hey BFH,

Would one of these do the trick: http://www.powerkak.com

You even get a choice of outboard or jet power!

Sorta spoils the ascetics of kayak "PADDLE" fishing, doncha think?

Wife and I each have a kayak, recon 2 planks joining the two, one tied across the bows and one across the stern, with a 8 hp outboard attached between the two.  Should make getting to the fishing grouns a bit easier....

Mercury have a range of small electric motors here, go see a merc dealer.

Oh, or call Matamata MArine, Ken should remember the motor and get you the details for you 07-888-7541. He does a top price for you too.

I got a little 1 or 2 hp jobbie for my MacBoat that I use for tootling out to the mouth of the Little Waipa on  Karapiro, it works fine, but I wouldn't want to have to troll for hours with it or anything. However, on a kayak, mate, i suspect it'dwork way better and longer.

It was only $250 or so I think.

cheers, Stu.

It is only my overwhelming natural humility that mars my perfection.
