Yep - we use something very similar. Olive body, black or black bead head. Haven't used one with a red tag though - does it mimic the local variety or is the tag an attractor?

Hi Barbary
Yes the red is an attraction tag that works really
good here in sweden but i tie flies without it also.
Do u think its bad for NZ waters?

I would have both in my flybox. I have used similar tags on a nymph called a bead head bomber http://www.fishingfliesonline.com/products/products_detail.asp?ItemID=562&catid=5 and they have been effective. Probably more for fishing to Rainbows going up river from Lake Taupo though.
Probably worth while tieing up a few with black tungsten bead heads.
Where are you going to fish?

Hi Barbary
So i will tie up som with black beads then.
I am going to fish the north island for 10days and the south island for 15 days. I am going with Robbie Mcphee for two days, Peter fordham 2 days
so i am only doing 4 days guided fishing, the rest of the days me and the misses are going to camp around the islands.

Hi P-A

I too would suggest the red tag would work well on rainbows but I would hesitate to use it on browns for the same reasons I use gunmetal or black beads for brown trout waters over gold beads.

Cheers
