I just lassooed a 44lb  electric outboard for the flounder slayer . Im lookin at  100ah lifepo4 batteries  , and reading reviews hasnt really helped  . I can find such a battery for between 500 and 2000 bucks .
There is talk of metal frames ,not so flash BMS's , lack of over current  protection, unbalanced cells and 40a charging requirements.
Has anyone  actually tried a battery in the 5-700 buck range . Im thinking of MD's  and Jaycar . Does a rudimentary BMS matter so much if it only powering an outboard ( as opposed to a inverter or computer  etc ) , a circuit breaker can easily be fitted for over current  if needed .
Max current isnt specified on the motor but they seem to go roughly  a pound of thrust per amp so Im thinking under 50a .  .

I wish I was young again .... Id be heaps smarter than this time
