Is anyone using rigging floss that really is waxed - like tacky sticky stiff waxy waxed.
I am using Bonze, and it is very poor. Hardly has any wax and once it gets wet, useless. I know there are better ones - just not sure which brand.
Hoping not to have to source o/seas. There must be some decent stuff in NZ?
Thanks
Alan

Hey Al,

Australia mate-

Wellsys was the place we used to get our gear for the heavy tackle season.
The 70lb thread was great for the big baits and the 50 or was it (30??) lb for pitch baits or general tidying up on baits.

Great service and they ship all over.

Another good brand is AFW from the States - They sell the stuff here here at BCF in decent sized spools so at least you know when you're running low.

Good luck mate - most of the stuff can be got online.

Thanks

Found it - Aus, BCF. They sell the AFW stuff too.
Looks like I will be ordering from Aus unless I can find a NZ supplier.
Thanks

Send an email to these guys Alan.  [email protected]
Their website says they sell the 50lb AFW rigging floss.  There is a list of their stockists which includes Last Cast Bait and Tackle in Hastings and Hunting and Fishing Napier, however I have looked at both store's websites and neither appears to stock the AFW product.

Great, thanks Alan. Would prefer the AFW - I did a search for AFW floss, NZ and came up with nothing, BCF don't ship outside Aus - tried to order. Wellsys stock Tufline. That is avail in NZ. But AFW would prob be my preference - just thinking it will be of a high quality.
I know Last cast  - a guy selling from his garage. I can get that checked out. I also know the H&F guys in Napier well. Will contact them and see if they have any. If that doesn't work I will order from Hooker. Used them before.
Never simple, but something will happen. Perserverance.
Thanks

My son is coming over from Perth in October. I'm sure there is a BCF there. I could get him to bring some if you like.

Thanks for the offer - I will chase the AFW here first. If I get stuck, will let you know.
Wellsys sell Tufline. According to the blurb, it is very waxy too. That is stocked in NZ - can't recall who, but maybe Marine Deals.
Just a matter of finding the right one.. Most seem substandard. Melton Tackle (US) stock Mustad. But haven't seen that listed anywhere else - so it looks like AFW or Tufline.

I should have some AFW or Tufline, by the end of the month. People coming over.
So I will let you know how it looks. Hopefully NZ sourced.

Hooker do list AFW - if I don't hear back from my local H&F soon, I will order from Hooker.

Hey mate. We used FishRazr rigging floss extensively on the boats I ran over in the states. I stock it here in New Zealand. $38 each

OK, how sticky/waxy is it? Just that not all rigging 'wax' floss is the same. I know that first hand. You probably know that too.
I just saw some AFW 50lb tonight, and it ain't much better than what I have. Admittedly mine is 30lb - so finer thread and maybe less wax. Not doubting, just want a bit of info - def interested.
Was told tonight the Tufline is good. They do claim it is extra waxy. The point being, rigging lures in the shed, my 30lb Bonze is fine. Try rigging a wet fish, and it is rubbish really. There is better. Just trying to find it.
What is it you have in stock?
Best regards

I have 30 pound FishRazr waxed thread in stock and 70 pound tufline in stock. The tufline is slightly waxier, but the thread quality (also important) on the FishRazr stuff is better. The tufline although 70 pound can be split along the thread to make two strands approx 35 pounds a piece.

I would say 90% of my rigging I use the FishRazr 30 pound

I was about to order some 70lb Tufline off Marine deals. Also was chasing some hooks. BKK Diablo, in line.
Since you made the effort to reply, how do I order the tufline from you.
Thanks for the info.
Regards
Alan.
