Looking at buying a launch later in the year for cruising the hauraki gulf. Day trips inside and multi day trips out to Barrier, Mokes, Mercury's etc.

Looking for a seaworthy floating Bach up to 40ft.
Ideally a well maintained boat, moderately economical and shaft drive.

Looking to spend under $50k

Seems most of the grp hulls in this range have stern legs. I would consider something bit smaller (25-30ft) if a haulout and trailer park is an option. Leg boat on a mooring isn't for me.

Here's the kind of boat I'm looking at. Appreciate thoughts re: design, maintaining, handling and practicality for a cruiser/fisher.

I would prefer a dd kauri boat but am not adverse to a gop boat if it checks out ok.

I know bugger all about boats so am open to suggestion.   I'm already nervous about bashing into a pile mooring or other boats. I plan on offering free fishing trips to a boatless boatee to show me the ropes.

Cheers

Toyota engine marinized, sure a lot of diesil truck engines get marinised but is it the same quality as a pupose built marine engine?

Thanks for the feedback.
The vindex has a mazda truck engine in it as well. I like this boat. Been maintained and has a reconditioned engine.

I wouldn't motor out through the kaipara. How much would it cost to transport it from helensville to whangaparoa? I like the look of that pelin and I suppose it's gop.

That lidgard is a nice looking boat. Looks to be dd   construction. I dunno about twin motors. Double the maintainence. I guess there's a safety feature if one claps out you can still motor home.

That hartley with the Toyota engine looks nice. I kind of thought in my ignorance of marine things that toyota=reliable. I dunno about the ladder up the side into the flybridge.

I won't be ready to pull the trigger till later in the year when I have collected my coins together.

I like the look of this boat. Wondering about the helm in the cockpit. Is this for docking or sportfishing purposes? I think I prefer a helm in the cabin with secondary flybridge helm in good weather.
