Good morning,

I have just returned to NZ after 11 Years of fishing professionally overseas in some of the worlds premier Sportfishing locations (Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico, Madeira, Seychelles, Nova Scotia etc.) In this time I have been Captain or mate on some of the worlds highest profile sportfishing programs.

Now that I am back in NZ I wish to offer services to crews of all experience levels to help them be more successful on the water. I will offer the following services:

+ Captain / Mate services
+ Game fishing tutorial (on or off the water)
+ Tackle, bait and Boat rigging tutorial
+ Tournament crew services
+ Boat handling tutorial
+ Electronics set up and tutorial

WORK EXPERIENCE:

 

 

·       SF Jaruco; Captain. (Aug 2018 – Present) 90’ Jarrett Bay

Captain of high profile, world travelling sportfishing vessel. Extensive fishing program throughout Central America, Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, Madeira and Canary Islands. Responsible for all mechanical maintenance, accounting, travel arrangements, passage planning and logistics. 5000 Main engine hours in 5 years with this program.

 

·       SF Grand Duke; Captain. (Nov 2016 – Present) 70’ Viking EB

Captain of 2015 Viking 70’ EB. Extensive fishing and cruising program through SE Asia. Trips through Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia totalling over 9000nm. Thorough planning for budgets, fuel and shipping logistics necessary in these areas.

 

·       SF Pelese; First Mate and Relief Captain. (Jan 2016 – Nov 2016) 60’ Spencer.

First mate and relief captain aboard a competitive fishing vessel, based in Los Sueños, Costa Rica. We secured two consecutive 2nd place finishes in leg 2 and 3 of the Los Sueños Triple Crown Series.

 

·       SF Norby; First Mate and Relief Captain. (Feb 2012 – Jan 2016) 82’ Viking.

First mate and relief/second captain. Passages from Singapore, through Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, and Australia. In charge of all passage plans, fuel calculations, watches, safety and maintenance protocols, and fishing. Total mileage over 9000nm.

 

·       SF Chunda II; Captain. (Nov 2014 – March 2015) 82’ Sea Force XI.

Captain of large sportfishing vessel travelling the Caribbean with live aboard owners. Open water passages from Saint Maartin – Martinique – Saint Lucia – Grenada – Aruba – Columbia – Panama with canal transit. Total mileage over 1800nm. Responsible for all accounting and finances.

 

·       SF Carol Libby; First Mate. (Feb 2013 – Aug 2014) 61’ Spencer.

Fishing master and first mate. Held regular solo watches and assisted on deliveries between Florida - Panama – Costa Rica – Mexico (x2). Engine room checks, berthing vessel, bunkering, maintenance, and managing yard periods in Captains absence. Onboard for 4500 main engine hours.

 

·       SF Arenui; First Mate. (Jan – May 2008, 2009, 2012) 47’ Obrien.

First mate and served as relief captain. Managed refuelling, engine room maintenance and checks. Five month seasons with overnight turnarounds.

 

·       Wavedancer Charters; Captain. (June 2011 – Nov 2012) 2 x 30’ Rayglass.

Captain of two 30’ diesel powered sportfishing vessels. I managed bookings, handled accounts, ran regular day, overnight and weekend stay away trips. I also managed all boat mechanical maintenance, safety protocols and provisioning.

 

 

·       MY Island Passage; Fishing Master. (Various 2 month contracts 2011-2012) 145’ Catamaran.

Fishing master, bosun and captain of multiple sportfishing tenders to 30’/ Also had many watches and piloted the vessel in close quarters, heavy traffic density and open water/ Assisted first mate with passage plans, safety protocols, drills and bunkering. Engineers assistant on large jobs. 6 x open water deliveries over 1000nm each.

 

·       MY Lanakai II; First Mate. (July 2008 – May 2011) 92’ Michael Peters.

First mate and relief captain in captains absence. Completed 6 x 1100nm + open water deliveries between New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Created passage plans for deliveries, managed and maintained all mechanical equipment. Berthed, anchored, and piloted vessel regularly.

·       34 Blue Marlin in one day

·       11 Blue Marlin releases in one day on 20# Tippet Fly Rod

·       135# Yellowfin Tuna on 12# conventional tackle

·       378# Striped Marlin on 30# conventional tackle

·       230# Striped Marlin for lady angler on 12# conventional tackle

·       1300# (est.) Bluefin Tuna released

·       1100# (est.) Black Marlin released

·       759# swordfish on 80# Conventional tackle

·       2nd place leg 2 and 3 of Los Sueños Triple Crown 2016

·       I have fished in New Zealand, Australia, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Fiji, USA, Bahamas, Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, Mexico, Colombia, Canada, Turks and Caicos, Jamaica, Aruba, Seychelles, Dubai, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Madeira, Portugal, Italy, Slovenia, Chile. ·       Over 180 days spent more than 100nm offshore in 2013-2014
