avoid vtnz if you could.. don't go there if you have a choice.
Might not have a choice soon vtnz/drivesure   plenty of garages(smaller 1 or2 man band)giving it up due to compliance cost, ours is finishing end of yr. Too many small garages issued what LTNZ call dodgey.

Just found out VTNZ is not a govt agency but owned by a group called Dekra se.appears to be German??

The dodgy-ist WOF's I have ever had, has always been VTNZ. They're hopeless.

yep, Dekra, TÜV and the GS label are all German in origin and operate internationally. Dekra usually operate with commercial vehicles and heavy machinery, TÜV deals with mostly private but also commercial vehicles and the GS logo is a registered trademark for safety testing all kinds of tech products ranging from toys to specialised tools.

I'd never go to VTNZ if I had a choice, I've always found their testers to fail stuff for ridiculous reasons.  My daughter took her car to VTNZ, failed on a binding rear brake.  Took the car to a garage who replaced the rear caliper that was binding, back to VTNZ and they failed it again for the same thing.  Back to the mechanic, who could not understand why they were still failing it.  Went to a different WOF place and it flew straight through without even an advisory.
