I can order whatever I want from the couch and have it arrive at my door two days later. And social media gives me all the fishing interaction and advice I could ever need. A small specialist fly fishing store in an expensive retail environment doesn't really have a hope-in-hell of surviving. |

I don't think this has much to do with the "digital world" Craig. More to do with the fact it moved away from being a "small specialist store" and started to look more like a typical "Hunting and Fishing" store. That is starting to sound more like poor management. I'm thinking bait sales were likely the only thing keeping it partially afloat in the end. I think they even sold monofilament gill nets which is about as alien to fly fishing as you will get. Their online presence (in terms of the "digital world" analogy") was abysmal. That is more like what happened there. |
