Just learning about chickens as in process of building coop. Heard they eat dead mice rats etc and heard fish scraps wondering if it’s freshwater and seawater fish?

Chickens can eat fish and fish bones both raw and cooked. Fish are a beneficial addition to a chicken's diet because they are filled with sizable levels of protein. They also abound with minerals such as calcium.

I would of thought no but Mr google says Yes.

hanging some frames over the run works a treat too flys land and maggots drop off for them to eat

Mine used to like choppedup crayfish heads and pretty much any fish I threw at them, except butterfish (prob a tad too boring?).
They get over it pretty quick, so don't feed it all at once

ahhh so sea fish bits are the go. What about the bones scales etc. what do they eat? Good tip re frame hanging. Online there are bins with a tube that you chick yuk into and maggots etc crawl up  and get eaten by chooks so similar system. I don’t have close neighbours.

I’ve heard no onions, mouldy stuff, is there anything else I should avoid?

They generally only eat what is good for them I believe. Mine will peck at fish frames but my 10 chooks will only eat one small frame. They prefer cooked frames. Plenty of fresh water is important

yes have those water cups on order which I’ll plug into a 200 litre drum feed from coop spouting should be hands free for long periods when holidaying etc.  also plan to use the vertical feed spouting system. All going well I can leave them for weeks and they will be ok. Just need to water check the eggs freshness when I get back.  Does all the anode sound ok?
