I was out a few weeks ago and had a school chasing in my usual rapala x3 times and no hook ups threw out my NACL Kahawai and instantly took it. Not so much on the cheaper more affordable side they cost between $80 and $140 per lure. The kingy i hooked up was 116cm and weiged in at just under 25kgs so well and truly made my money back in weight of fish of one kingy! |

The Tamure Kid wrote:With long jigs of that sort, the vast majority of fishos tie the leader (with a uni knot) to the solid ring of the assist rig. That way you are connected directly to the hook, and there's no chance of split ring failure.
So, to be clear, you don't tie your leader to the metal loop at the eye end of the jig, or the split ring. If you want any further expert advice, I'd post your query in the jigging thread, rather than the topwater one.
