Anybody else frustrated by Yamaha outboard pricing in NZ? 
Has anybody bought overseas and imported to save on costs? Any advice?

A 40SA Yamaha Fourstroke sells in OZ for $6489AUD at Brisbane Marine

Economies of scale, one has to assume. There are some unavoidable baseline overheads that they can spread across a whole lot more people.

Quite a few things are more expensive in N.Z. lots of tax to pay for the services that only relatively few contribute to. We have a small economy compared with AU. Even if you do source one from abroad it would pay to check warranty conditions as I'm sure that in the unlikley event of a malfunction, local dealers wouldn't be that interested in repairing one purchased from overseas unless you paid for the repairs
Cant beat hunting and Fishing in N.Z
