Landed on my first weight for the season, went 86.7 kg.
Feeling pretty pumped.
Boat in exceptional condition, body and gear tuned and duly primed.

Season close ....

Sorry about that, virus stopped me working this post.
Sorted I hope.

As I said, I have got my weight down and feeling fit again after two years of heart issues.
Really looking forward to fishing and not boat and gear mods and maintenance.

Widerange, must of been my poor grammar or people's comprehension you got hold of, no wait a moment my English was good.

And as the last ten to fifteen years there has always been an air of excitement and enthusiasm to the upcoming game season. Harmless really.

Hope your not too offended....
not really, don't be so precious.

Good to hear Matt.
I’m going through some dicky ticker issues right now..not much fun.
Should be sorted in time for game time.

Well said White Snake.  Some people should get onto the Buy, sell, trade thread and look for a cheap sense of humour.

As there are no rules, it's always worth a look.
Bite looks low, but if you ain't doing it you won't have a chance.
It's also a good shakedown run to be ready for the season.

Has anyone been out for a look ??

Those that say it can't be done are being overtaken by those doing it.

Basking marlin sighted 16/12/2018 and 100% confirmed as a stickface in 250m depth well North of Piha in 20.8C. Also saw free jumper 10 mins later. Tried running a lure around the stripy but no takers.

Only saw 1 work up of tuna the whole day.

I reckon they were only skippies  - just saw the surface boil but they were not the big early albies.

Was expecting the shallow cooler waters to begin.

A marlin was hooked at 1515hrs today and stayed on for 2 hours before one of the light gauge hooks broke and the other bent. Had it to the boat and on the leader after an hour before it powered away again. Fish was a stripy and looked like it would easily have made weight, was approx 110m off Manukau bar. Boat was Hillbilly from Counties and the Angler was Maree Pedersen. Gutted.

At least it's an official catch as you had the leader in hand.
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken
