Hey guys,

Heading up to Doubtless bay in a few weeks and was going to take my Kontiki up to put out on Tokerau Beach on an evening.

My question is......Is the beach nice and easy to drive onto. I have a late model 4x4 with only road tyres on. Would that be ok? Was thinking about going down ramp road and just finding a spot away from people.

Would love to hear peoples views.

I think you'd need to be off the beach an hour or so before high tide, at Easter the high water mark was right up to the dunes.

But there were all kinds of cars on the beach, including AWD as well as 4WD.
