Are there still snapper around in the sandy shallows around Ruakaka/Bream Bay at this time of year? I did well there over the summer with pannies (nothing too big). Not after any secret spots, just trying to save a bit a fuel on tomorrow's fish hunt.

I always anchor on the channel edge in the harbour on change of light and never seems to fail often,

Contikis are doing ok off the beach this time of year also.

Not the intel I have. They say dead. Couple undersize and baits untouched.

if you head out to 3 mile reef you can get a nice feed of blue cod as the waters are cooling down, they beat snapper hands down!

Thanks Nick, I do catch a few and I agree about their eating quality.
