Try developing a line of cumminications with your local MP, and encourage others to do the same. That way you can keep fishing in their mind so if any discussions on the subject are had, then they might think, "hmmmm, the Mighty Boosh may not like this..." or something.
Other than that....not a lot really.
Oh, and when I say develop a relationship, I don't mean sending them a string of shouty, preachy emails, lol, but nice friendly polite discussion type questions etc. No tinfoil hat stuff if ya know what I mean.....

I hadn't thought of local body politicians, but that is not silly either, as it is these folks who control the local environmental controls, resource applications etc. not much help on national levels but certainly a very good way of influencing local issues.
