Ok Ok, I know the word Omoto is a 5 letter word not allowed in some households. But I am just eyeing up the Severo 5000H for topwater fishing, I don't do a large amount of topwater so i can not justify a top end reel (catalina, saltiga, stella etc.)

I am just wanting to know if anyone has used one and their honest thoughts of them, I know they are a touch heavy which doesn't bother me for topwater. They have a 140cm retrieve (box ticked), 15 kilo of useable drag (box ticked). The Alan Hawk review on them is pretty good although thats based entirely form an engineering approach, It would be good to hear opinions of someone who has used them first hand.

TIA

Jono

Why don't you buy a  Finnor Lethal 100 or a Quantum Cabo 120?? You can get the lethal under $200

I used to have a lethal, used it for jigging, although a good review on Alan hawk it just didn't feel all that nice when using it. I'll have a look at the cabo specs.

I turned it into a Low gear Saltiga. I used it as a jigging reel, it was ok for topwater but a touch slow.

hey man have a look at the new okuma azores. cheap as chips but looks algood. dual force drag (20kg) and size 80 returns 116cm per crank. Also holds around 300m of 80lb and weighs about the same as my saragosa 10000.

I wouldn't recommend the Azores personally. My friend purchased one and his first trip out the line roller and bail fell apart.....

x2, have given one a good thrashing both here and in the islands and dealt to some solid kings and GTs to 25kg with no issues

Consider a Daiwa Saltest. Not the highest spec or the prettiest reel around but in 5 years working on boats on the Great Barrier Reef I've seen heaps of them used and abused on Doggies GT's and Spanish Mackerel and have yet to see one have any sort of problem.
