I started out on this exact set up about 8 years ago... It served me well and caught lots of good Kings up to 20kg. I now keep it as a spare set up for guests and jigging newbies on the boat.

TBH the the t-curves are like a broom stick! Although a broom stick might be slightly more forgiving...

My advice would be to get a better rod - and make sure that it is parabolic (much easier on the angler and easier/nicer to jig with). The jigstar range of rods are good value for money and Composite Developments also do some nice well priced jig rods. go for something around the 250-300g rating.

The Saragosas are great reels for the money - you can't go wrong there. For jigging i would suggest the 10000 model.

Good luck with it.

Good advice above.

Also keep an eye on the forums, some cheap second hand options come up very cheap.
TAS - Its a real disease
