With some decent weather finally looking like it might make an appearance at the end of the week I'm considering a few days away jigging. I am fairly familiar with the Aldies/Mercs areas having fished there a number of times I'm considering a trip up to Whangaroa for a change.

If travel time wasn't a factor, just wondering where people would go. Is the jigging likely to be any better up at Whangaroa? Better numbers or bigger fish? I realise it's a bit like asking how long is a piece of string.... But just interested to hear from jiggers who have experience of both places especially at this time of year.

Would say the fish at the aldies have seen enough jigs to start a Japanese tackle shop

Mercs and Aldies can be hard going with jigs a lot of the time, gets pretty hammered.
Livies generally the go around there.

I have seen that at the Aldies where livies normally win... However I have also had a number of days of over 50+++ kings in a session all on jigs and they were waaay more interested in metal than livies!

Personally I enjoy the work out you get from jigging... Just as well on the slow days eh!
