Agreed...Slammer all the way, just bought a DFS 400 Slammer from Kane. (see page 17 of the custom jigging reels forum)
The new matt black and red ones are absolutely awesome and the name Accurate speaks for itself, you cant go wrong Pete.

Why go 600 size? Overkill for almost all jigging in nz.

And dont just listen to these fanboys go take a look at other options for yourself. Jm or som are imo better options

Those accurate 600 reels are nice, I own a JM reel but my next overhead purchase will probably be an accurate based on having a few goes with a mates accurate. I like the speed and spool size of the 600 myself and as has been said, good value.

Yep, go Accurate, I got a 600 Slammer, love it. Haven't fished with JM or SOM though. The accurate feels bulletproof, and I know if it ever has any issues then I'm sure Kane will sort it. I'm gonna get the 400 soon as well. The 600 gives heaps of line capacity for deep drops as well.

Lol, this is hilarious. Was only a few years ago that everyone was ditching accurate and JM actually did most of there upgrades, NOW it seems like it has turned full circle and now Accurate is flavour of the year.
We can actually thank Kane most for all the improvements in accurate jigging reels so big ups to Kane at DeCoro.

WELL Done KaneThumbs Up especially getting the parent company to listen in the first place

What's a wind on ;). For jigging haha.

Oh and I reckon semi circle kaveman, full
Circle will be when all
Go back to claiming the new star drag oceas are THE BEST...   Or some other star drag.

I think we need a new
System now anyway. Tease them
Up and then hit the fish on the head with your reel.

It's the new way.

Seriously, thought of the actual question again.

Look at the Italian stuff as we'll. not enough consideration by NZ jiggers is given to the alutecnos and everol gear.

It is top quality stuff compared to most of the Asian manufactured gear and has loads of bling factor as well as drag performance.

What Sid said. I spend a lot of time in USA and have a real choice of quality gear. I looked hard at the Accurate (Dawg pound and the new Dauntless) the JM (PE5N plus the new high ratio 5.1) I settled for the Everol VJ12. This reel is the size of a PE4 but is rated at 40 lb drag. I have tested mine with a scale over the rod tip with a full spool and got 10 kg at strike and 16 kg at sunset. The reel was not maxed out but 16 kg is more than enough for this angler!!! It has slayed a fair few NZ kingfish. Cost me NZD 530. Don't discount the Italian reels!!!

I have a 600n on a killwell talon 350.

I got 600m 50lb on plus a wind on.

When out in the garden patch i use it and feel confident with lots of line and tons of grunt when jigging in 250+.

Also have a Jigstar 250 with a nice little Avet that although I like a lot is not up to the larger setup in some way I can't quantify.
I am just smoother with the Talon/Accurate some how.

I Do think the 600n is a bit big but when I grab a setup it tends to be my bigger rig, maybe it's because I know sooner or later I am going to hook a really big kingfish..............

The Accurate is very nice and high end American made is back in town in terms of quality!

I would recomend Accurate reels.
