It looks photoshopped, but it could be a coarse fisherman/carp hybrid?

No so why post a picture that will encourage the Herbies of this world? Really SONIK is hardly known for coarse gear, incidentally coarse fish are not carp here in the freshwater regs.

porcus cicapitatus impuneque seligit

F5 pig headed carp, they introduced some from Israel last year into a few commercial fisheries in the UK. They have been specifically bread as they are very good bottom feeders and will clean up any unwanted food that stays on the lake bed that the other fish don't want. Water quality on most UK commercial fisheries has been a major issue over the years and these F5 pig headed carp are supposed to be the answer to the poor water quality.
Last year the match record on Phase 4 at Makins Fishery was 247lb of these F5's and Andy Finlay caught most of them on diced carrot, he was heard to say after the match that he was pleased to have bought home the bacon.

Some say this is not these case and that they have been stocked for the pig headed angler.
How they got to New Zealand is anybody's guess. Maybe Smithies ghost.

Until Herby jumps in and has a go at coarse anglers again!
Interesting that protecting, promoting and combating illegal behaviour is seen as negative and all coarse fish are grouped by some as all pest fish is that not negative?

Dont worry about it o Neil, Herby is just a dickhead, don't let him get to ya, after all he's a spear fisherman, he can't help it.
Have a laugh with these guys & don't let them get ya down.
Look at it this way o Neil, catching fish on super light tackle compared to spearing a fish at ya feet or something thats swims past ya face ....... who has the skills.
There just going to try & wind you up so f-ck em.
Even some of the Mods on here will try & wind you up & when you give them **** back you will get told to behave, like i said dont sweet it.
Just enjoy what ya do.
Happy days

Golly. Calling me a dickhead is a bit uncalled for, you dont even know me. I wouldn't call you a dumbass with a spelling age of 7. I could... but I just wouldn't.

Maybe we could have a spear vs rod freshwater competition like we have at Ruakaka?
