Hey guys
 
I am trying to find some hi-vis braid for casting poppers, without breaking the bank.
 
I have heard of some braids looping and knotting when you cast (has happenned to be on my SP set but had the spool filled too much) is this a braid issue, or a spooling issue (ie too much)?
 
Would something like rovex viros be ok? I will be using the depthfinder braid on my jigging outfits but don't need the depth marked colours on the popping set.
 
Was looking at say 50lb, I already have 30 and 40lb on my smaller popper set.

I used suffix performance in hi vis yellow on a recent popping trip and had no dramas. I believe that suffix and viros may actually come out of the same factory. 

I did note that I did not get the amount of line on the spool that the spool capacity indicated for the given line dia (PE rating) of the braid. Could be the actual dia of the suffix is larger than stated (marketing) or shimano are overly optimistic on their stated line capacity.......or both. 

Looping and knotting can be further avoided by using a smooth casting technique and tidy leader connection.

I have a sample spool of Climax Spin Line which is designed for spin reels.  It is a hi vis orange and bloody thin and strong.  This is a 300m spool of 30kg has dia of .30mm.  Label says it has hi tech 5 tier shell structure comprising of 6 carriers and is thermofused which makes it a good castible braid.  Braid is made in Germany and sounds perfect for $50 + 5 courier.

Sorry to barge into the topic xsspeed, but also looking for a good castable braid, as have had problems with the stuff i got now. Was looking into the suffix performance braid as seems to be reasonably priced for a PE braid. Any one else use this braid for casting poppers?

Yip viro is no worries at all. I use it, not much abrasion resistance though. loops and tangles can come from many different problems i.e. reel, rod, leader, line, so may or may not be a braid issue. Why use hi vis? I dont get it

Hi-vis to see easily, it's all topwater so fish don't see the braid

I would assume that fish could see it from time to time,  yeah but why do you want to see line when you can look at the popper or stick bait? sorry just curious.

given you have about a meter of fluro i doubt the fish will see it...

Dont be fooled by the ole"Fish dont see Fluor' mantra. Stick some in a bucket of Water and have a look for ya self.....see it right their..... clearly...... So can fish!

I'm using berkley whiplash at the moment. have found the biggest problem is when your spool is to full. have used the suffix. viro's and a few others. if the spool is to full they all do the same thing. All good braids in there own right though. don't need hi vis for poppers. 

 I've been playing around with leader lengths on the soft bait set this winter. short leader definately effects your catch rate when using a hi vis line.

I'm using suffix and have found it losses it's magic after a while of constant casting, but then so would most I guess.

Fair point, occasionally I will leave a rapala or stickbait out while drifting/trolling, hence want hi-vis. No real science or thought behind it.
 
I use a rod and a half plus a few spool wraps of leader. I only use supple mono anyway not fluro.
