Hi guys, I'm new to the site and was looking around for some good fishing spots in the N. Shore. Some here say Campbells, Castor, Browns, etc but none mentioned Murray's bay. I notice in google maps that there is like a wharf to the left side and I can actually see some people fishing there in satellite view. Is this a good fishing spot? Thanks.

Take some squid jigs and a light.

A mate lives down there and see kingies cruising the shallows on a regular basis. I'm yet to here of anyone catching one off the wharf or the beach for that matter.
What's the cheapest type of meat? Dear balls. They're under a buck.

Popular spot but as good as any wharf around the shore really. Usually has a few piper around, squid, KY and some parore too but at the shallower end of the wharf. Also used to be able to catch snapper there with a good cast further out at dusk. Dunno if its still the same as havent fished it for at least 15 years.

I hooked and battled a big king off wharf when I was a kid. Good 35-40kg fish. Sadly lost it at the bottom of the steps after an hour plus fight.

So maybe better to go to the long rocky area on the left of Castor's or on the rocky area by the entrance to the marina in Milford then?

Great place to get piper for bait if you know how to catch em with small float and hook.
Best time early on a calm morning mid to high tide especially mid week when theres no kids jumping off the wharf.
Still the odd King cruises through saw a couple last year and the odd snaps taken but pretty rare.
The point to the left is a much better option at the bottom or top of the tide strayline rig as theres alot of kelp and foul.
Watch out for the walk down when its been raining the track can be slippery and theres nothing at the bottom but a drop off onto a slippery algae covered ledge below.
