Thought I'd post up another setup thing that Ive done on my boat to help others out that will be going through their setups in the next few months.
As per previous 'Outrigger setup post' this is just one mans way of doing things, you may or maynot agree but it's what works for me and my boat.
DISCLAIMER ~ Smile this is the theroy, please note that marlin virginity is still intact.

The metal box thingy you see houses the 2000gph pump (from memory it's a RULE pump)

There is a cheese grater arrangement cut into the bottom that acts as a pickup

This then feeds in to the two tubes which i can either run both or one via the valves you can see below

A recent modification (read today) has been the addition of an airator pump that will circulate the water within one of the tubes.
I found that last year the water flow was two much for mackeral and they all end tits up in the tube.

So now we'll have the option of
  • Running 1 or 2 tubes
  • Running 1 tube for tuna and one for mackeral and smaller bait fish
  • Running just the airator.

The chesse grater pickup (top pic) will self fill the tubes at anything on the plane, when trolling the pump needs to be going.

Cheers

'G'

good one mate, for the mackrel you could of just opened the value a little to dictate how much flow it got, but still a sweet set up,

Yeah tried that one Sam but the pressure of the water coming in on a reduced flow was still too much, was like blasting the little blighters with a high pressure hose.

dont want to steal your thread otdrmn, but thought id show this.

This is how we set ours up, its thru hull, and we got the bracket made up, these can be removed when not in use, have the 2 rod holders there with baits in the tube ready to be hiffed over works bloody well,

Does your surtees not have a livebait tank OTDRMN? surely that would be easier to keep jack macs alive?
