dose anyone have any accurate info about the difference between Ocea Jigger models i was looking at buying 1

The OJ 4000 has a gear ratio of 4.9:1 and has a gold finish.
 
The OJ 4000P has a gear ratio of 4.1:1 and has a silver/grey finish.
 
Apart from that they're identical and have a capacity of approximately 330m of PE8.

Cheers chopsticks do u have any idea what 1 would expect to pay 4 a 4000p. I found a 4000 4 $790 does that sound about rite, It sound like the 4000p is a beta jig reel.

They both cost the same. A lot of jiggers seem to prefer the "P" version. Nothing wrong with the non "P" version though.

Hi Torsa,
 
You can get a 4000P off ebay for around $620 inc freight (maybe less) assuming you dont get the gst on customs added. I know alot of people who have these also do a drag upgrade which pushes up the drag above the 15kg standard. I think Chris W has these upgrade parts on his site. ps. Are you still going to use the Torsa, or is this (4000P) just a addition to your jigging weaponry?

Twin Power im not shore what i will do, the Ocea J was going to be an addition to my Shimano arsonal, i have a Tcurve 200 jig married up with a Diawa so the Oj was going 2 be a set 4 the missus or crew, which eva comes 1st haha
Chris W these drag overhall kits what do they beef the drag up 2? and i here there is a new model coming about to be released any more info on that?

OJ drag upgrade can push drag levels to 20 - 23kg. Price is $134.
 Unsure about new models, will find out in 3 weeks time.

I had a fish taking line yesterday in 30 metres with a locked upgraded drag on a 4000P. I couldn't lift my JM500 to gimble it and get some kind of control over the beast as it was too powerful. It dropped the hook within 90 seconds - maybe just as well.

Do you think that if youd gone to free spool or fished a lighter drag CS and had the skipper follow the fish,that you may have boated it,or was the lock and approach the only option.

I might buy the 4000 to go with my jm400 and move the pro gear down to my new 250Wink

I think it was the shallow, rocky nature of the terrain that made me lock up. Probably should've tried the soft approach Jimi as it was a one way street fight the way I was doing it.
 
Anyway, good luck to the fish, it whipped my butt well and truely. Smile
