Call me a sucker but when I was browsing saltwaterflies.com I bought a pack of 6 bottles of EZ Shape Sparkle Body. This stuff is THE SH*T.

Just apply with the bottle, smooth with a toothpick, let it dry and you have wicked fly bodies. I'll post some creations soon.

God save me from internet shopping.Evil%20Smile

You're going to hate my guts.... LOLDeadEmbarrassedConfusedLOL

Holy sheeiiiittee.. Surely I must have something to sell you......

Yes, it's great stuff, we use it on fatboys and all sorts of stuff... Of course, you could have popped down to Spotlight and bought as many bottles of Pearl Glitter T-Shirt paint (Has to be waterproof to stand washing) which is exactly the same stuff, maybe even a little better consistencyWinkTongueSmile

Oh yeah, and about $2.00 a bottle.

Feather Merchants are the agents for ez shape in NZ, could've ordered it local but then it costs about $12.00 or more a bottle.Confused

HI GUYS,
I HAVE USED THE PEARL EZ SHAPE RECENTLY, ON SOME SMELT PATTERNS AND FOUND IT BLOODY GOOD.
I HAVE HAD TROUBLE CREATING POXY HEADS & CONFIDENT WITH THIS PRODUCT.
HAVE TO BE PATIENT FOR DRYING TIME (CURED)BETWEEN 12 TO 24 HOURS.
IVE FOUND TYING WITH WHITE THREAD MORE REALISTIC AS WITH BLACK THREAD,THE HEADS ARE A LITTLE ON THE GREENY/DARKISH SIDE.
HIGHLY RECOMENDED.

(WHATS KNOWLEDGE,IF ITS NOT SHARED??)
~~REMEMBER;FISH HAVE TAILS AND THEY USE THEM?~~

Hi Nick

I have been using "the ****" for two years and it
creates a nice paerly touch to the flies. But I only
use the pearl version since the other once are really ****e.
If u want it to dry faster blow it with hair drier and it dries in
15min, then aply 30minute epoxy.
Regards
P-A

What I found really nice is that I tied in a tail, then squirted pearl sparkle on the bottom half of the hook shank, cahrtreuse on top, let it dry, applied eyes, epoxied and whammo a sort of surf candy that looks pretty awesome. Also used it on the heads of some big flies that I put together, again that multi colour (black & red, pearl & blue) effect looks really nice. I don't think the fish will care, but I like the effect!

I'll be keen to see some of those flies Nick...

I was having a joke with Nick, of course, but it is one of my new pet subjects... how much we are expected to pay for some products simply because they put a fly tying or fly fishing label on the bottle. $20 1/10th of an ounce bottles of dry shake for stuff you can buy 5lbs of the stuff for at it's original source for $5.00, Fly floatants that are woman's hand creams and can purchased in a lifetime supply tub for cents as opposed to dollars for a "little squirt".

This ez-shape is the same... $2.00 bottle at spotlight for the same stuff. I don't mind someone making a quid, but getting nearly $20 for a bottle half the size of the same thing at Spotlight for $2.00 starts to make look a bit harder... I will start a thread on this.... I have a few I know of, I'd love others to share the knowledge.

Keen to see those flies Nick....

I have been adding a dab to the wingcases of nymphs and the lead eyes of bombs for a few years. Seems to work pretty well.

Well, the comments posted here regarding how to make EZ Shape dry faster (Thanks PA) have lead to more inventing and thinking.

When combined with the fly turner I made the other week I have made a way to dry up to 1 dz fatboys at a time in fast order. Careful placement of the wifes hair dyer (allowing for ventilation) means these guys will be good to go in less than 15 minutes...

Bloody excellent, almost a production line here today ...LOL.. Got to be finished before the wife gets home though ....LOL

Good One Clark; Hope you had no hassle with the dryer and your head isn't in a sling.

As a matter of interest; How many RPM does that neat and tidy motor rotate at? I am getting quite keen on this S/W tying.  Jax

Hi Clark

Re Spotlight Pearl Glitter T Shirt Paint. I went to Nelson today to get some. There was just so much stuff in the fabric paint selection. I got confused. Could you give the brand name, and next time I go back I will search more.  I ended up with Polymark Silver Pearl Iredescent, and yep its silver. Is the stuff you use clear.

I am a surfcaster, rock hopper, and not a dedicated flyfisher, I started doing flashers with eyes, and they slowly seem to be evolving into flys. I have a way I believe I can use them in my application.  Some of them are turning out pretty smart.

I accept there is some contention between flashers and flys. When I start one I actually have no idea as to what it will actually turn out like.  And as it unfolds, I go with it.

I have  quite a bit of creactivity  and do tend to work out of the loop. Some interesting designs do emerge.   When my confidence grows maybe I will try a pic or two.

I will say I have read every post on here and the flyfishing forum. Great stuff which has assisted me so much.

Cheers Trev

Although I go as Hardy

Any of the waterproog t-shirt paints are fine. If they stick to a shirt through a hot wash, they'll stay on your fly...
I look forward to seeing your flies... to me a fly is a fly when fished as is, put bait on it and it's a flasher... whixch one is better or loftier is a personal call I reckon.Big%20smile
