Thanks Boulder

Well guys & girls, as mentioned before we are running a kayak fishing competition here in the Naki on the 21st and 22nd of April 2007.

To my knowledge this is the only Kayak fishing competition being run in 2007 and it will give yak fishers a chance to get together and discuss ideas and innovations in a sport that is in the infant stage. This is a competition that we hope to run annually and with this in mind we are running a teams event in conjunction, with trophies that can be contested each year.
There are many good launching spots that provide some exciting fishing and great scenery and there should be some big snapps mooching around at that time of year.

The 2 top prizes in the singles event will be drawn as spot prizes, so as long as you enter and are present at the prize giving you have an equal chance of winning.

There will also be heaviest and second heaviest prizes for about seven species of fish, with thousands of dollars in prizes.

With this being the first national competition that we've run, there has been a lot of organising and the committee has worked hard, however there are now entry forms and rules scattered about the country and hopefully most of the clubs now have them as well. If you can't get hold of one please email me at - [email protected]

Look for this flyer

Also Dogfish is working on a web site, with links to information etc - http://www.kayakfishingclassic.co.nz/ (it's not fully up and running at present, however it should only be a week away - Thanks for your efforts Dogfish)

So grab your entry, ready your rods and come and enjoy some Naki fishing. You might even be able to kick some Naki boys buttsShockedLOLWink

Cheers

NM

Hi all
New to this site and new to kayak fishing, apart from longlining off the beach. Very keen on entering, but need a fishing partner, or team that would be able to 'show me the ropes' kayak fishing around the naki. Im a fully competent sea kayaker, and a reasonable fisherman, so I wouldnt be a third wheel!
Anyone able to offer any help or advice on this?
PM me!
Thanks. infr4r3d

Just down the coast in Wanganui. My kayak has only been used to drag out longlines, but was originally bought with fishing in mind. Once I find the loaction of our local wastewater outflow pipe I might be able to get some more active fishing in. Would be very keen to meet up on the odd weekend. Shouldnt be long till I get my restricted lisence. Oh, Im only 18. Just so you know. But mad keen on fishing. Too bad none of my mates are

Embarrassed  Ok guys.  This is my first time writing on the forum - done lots of reading so don't give me s..t.  I have been learning fishing and kayaking for the last 2 summers - what a challenge.  Add now also soft bait fishing to the list and you could say I am no longer on my novice wheels.  If you read any of Jackie Danton's "Mrs Bean" stories they are about me!

Anyway... there is is also the Maraetai Fishing Competition on Fri 27th, Sat 28th and Sun 29th April.  Top Prize: Stabi-Craft 509 Wide Fish'r With motor. Anyone can win this by weighing in a 1 kg or over Snapper.  Earlybird tickets up to March 25 at $75 - after are $85.  Tickets available by phoning 09 5366649 ext 2 or email [email protected] Also great spot prizes every night.  No kayak section but it doesn't matter.  There is a kids fishing competition within this with Kayaks as prizes.

2 years ago Jackie and I entered and both won prizes (not the boat though!).  We were the only kayaks and the boaties were blown away with what we caught Clap

If anyone is definately going, let me know because I will then also go (but I need to book a day of annual leave).  As I am a local I can show some X spots (however you will be sworn to secrecy) and can give you lodgings.

Wrong Phone Number!  Embarrassed

Just a note to advise everyone that the contact phone number on the Taranaki Kayak Fishing Classic posters and entry forms is incorrect.

It should read  027 433 8485

Our apologies for any inconvenience.

You've only got until Midnight tonight to send in your entry form for the Taranaki Kayak Fishing Classic and be eligible for the Early Bird prize draw. And you save $20.00 on the entry fee. Thumbs%20Up

Use the on-line Entry Form at the website or download and email in the Word version to us before midnight so that you don't miss the deadline.

HI Guys

This coming weekend is the Taranaki Kayak Fishing Classic. Only 1 week left to get your entries in. Entries close 8.00 registration night (friday). Swell map shows that we are looking at .25 to .75 swell with 4 Knot winds so the sea should be like glass. The big snapper are in close and the Kings are still hanging around. There are still good amounts of gurnard being caught. On Saturday night after the weigh in there is a roast buffet dinner for $20.00, should be a good night Hope to see you there

Cheers
