G'day Gents,

What is your favorite knot to use when attaching your Mainline to your Trace?

I've been using the Bag of Crap knot and not having much fun with it. Some people say tie the uni-knot with 6 loops but I have found it stronger with nothing over 4.

Started to expeirment with the nail knot. Strong as hell with six loops but you have to pull the tag end tight just at the right time or you're stuffed.

Any questions, comments, things to throw?

My favourite is a simple knot that Lethal showed me... I won't try explaining it but if we see you in a couple of weeks I'll show you then... I got it wrong the first time I tried it after the trip to barrier with Lethal and that was because I fed the tag end back through under the trace rather than over the trace inside the loop and it pulled apart. I'm getting in a knot trying to explain that, so you'll have to wait till I see ya.

Does that knot have a name Lethal?

That knot flows through the guides nice and smoothly which is another bonus... I'll never be using a swivel again unless livebaiting!

Nup, similar-ish but too many wraps, plus the mainline needs a figure eight tied in it.

make a Double in your mainline Hellfish then lay your trace along side it wrap the trace around the loop three times now poke the trace end through the loop making sure you go over the incoming trace before going through the loop......... by holding the trace end and the loop between your thumb and finger use the other hand to pull the main part of your trace which in turn tightens up the knot......

it is very simple but very effective all that is happing is the tag end of you trace stops the three turns from slipping off the loop......

Thanks for everything you did for us Eric. may you rest in peace, You were one of the real legends of NZ recreational fishing
