The manual says use the flush port or a barrel.
It seems the flush port wouldn't rinse the impeller and tube like muffs do, also read that it bypasses the thermostats..
Is it okay to use muffs if I block the additional intake port?
The boat will be back in the lake within a few days of being in the sea, so it will get a good flush eventually if I go to the coast for the weekend.

Well I reckon muffs are best because they replicate the actual working cooling system , and you can get in line salt and/or scale removal concentrate dispensers .

I flush my BF225 through the port. After a bit I noticed the warm is warm. I can only conclude that the engine, including thermostats are being flushed. Not flushing the impellor doesn't faze me. It's rubber. It also should be replaced regularly anyway.

I guess  that the  screw in adapter would waste less water  if you covered the normal intake holes . Im on a tank/ roof supply  and have been down to a foot of water left , and the motor is fitted with a power trim so it dont fit in a drum  . Just look for a decent puddle on the way home LOL
