Hi all.

I have a kontiki and went for a fish on the Whakatane side of Pukehina,but before Matata straights.My question is..Is there a reef out there somewhere about the 2k mark.As it got stuck on something.Any help would be great,just that i don't want to lose my gear next time.Thanks

Not sure about near Matata, but I know that there is along reef structure the runs the length of pukehina beach at around 1500m off shore. Depth of around 15 m from memory

Sounds like you were at Rogers Road, heaps of isolated pockets of papa reefs from 200m offshore till a good km out.

Love fishing, love my job. It's a bloody shame that they clash.
