I read an article last year on the increasing shark numbers on reefs. Thought I would get some opinions from here. Over the last few years some of the better jigging spots I frequent it has become increasingly more difficult to get a live kingfish to the boat without the tax man taking his fare share. Apart from stopping fishing has then been any successful attempts to improve the landing rate??

Usually just move spots if the tax man takes a few fish cbf hanging around trying to get fish past them

Exercise in futility I'm afraid.

I think a lot of spots they have also become familiar with boat noise.

Target bronzie's instead?

All I can say is get out of there as soon as the sharks arrive, lost hundreds of dollars worth of gear in the period of about 3 hours of jigging

It also goes beyond just the dollar value of gear lost - think of the damage loosing these fish does to the population of fish in the area. If we generally take one fish home a day, but loose half a dozen fish to sharks - you're essentially taking all of these fish through your actions...

I have no answer for how to extract them whole though!
