AlexFyssher wrote:Cool got ya guys. Really just a piece of mind thing. 10kg max drag on my reel. But obviously you get a bit more pressure on the line with big head shakes. Ill stick with 50 I think. Always have a pretty heaftly PR knot so don't think it will break there. What knot does everyone use to tie leader to solid ring? |

letsgetem wrote:I used 50lb braid casting for GTs at Cook Islands. When I hooked a biggie, it broke. I never got a second chance. I regretted using 50lb. Ok, I believe it broke at the weakest point, the knot from braid to leader. So, I think the strength is determined by, both line strength and knot(s) strength. The knot was a Spider Hitch, which I subsequently learned was relatively weak. Later I changed to a Bimini Twist, which I understand is much stronger. And now I have changed again, to a Yucatan, even stronger I believe. To me, I like to think I will be able to land a big fish, if it ever eventuates - so I will be sticking with 80lb braid, or stronger. |
I might change then lol
