Yeah its great to see aussies catch something other than whiting barra or whatever else they have,
Its a shame to see people on tv releasing fish incorrectly, no damp rag and sticking the scales in the gills ???

Great show - a hint of the potential economic value if we had a truely world class fishery

Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish caught will we realise we can't eat money.

Really enjoyed that show. Have been watching this for a few weeks now. Couldnt help think. Those australians were over the moon .Lost count of how many times they referred to Tairua ,NZ amazing Kings ,Snapper.
Just think a Australian Film crew extolling the virtues of Fishing N.Z . Great. Could not  help thinking ,how long will it be before the Government recognizes the Dollar value of this sort of Fishing, and maybe gives it the support it deserves. As BAB said how amazing our fishery could be -world class if there were just a few more fish in the water.
The true value of our fish is in the water and not dead ones for export.
Sad but true that the officials with no vision at all make decisions about our fishery. Believe that will begin to change

I believe we have as long as you can keep the Commercial boats away, there is some top operators out there like Epic protecting these places buy returning the fish so they can be -caught.

A Good Skipper Keeps the water on the outside of the boat.

That is so obviously the way forwards for the economy and the fishery .
Just a pity that those in power that have a financial stake in major fishing company will see to it that there short term gain will win over from long term benefits for the country.

Always plenty of action on that show. Funny as when he fell on his arse after he got busted off. Thought it was a pretty low bar to set for $10k worth of gear with the target being a 15kg kingy and a 4kg snapper. One of the other recent guests on his show had to catch 15 species and certain fish over certain sizes or something like that.< id="adlesse_unifier_magic_element_id" style="display:none;">
What's the cheapest type of meat? Dear balls. They're under a buck.
