It doesnt happen often but hes right in a way
It depends what you want to acheive mate. If you just want to have a flick off the rocks just double your mainline tie on a hook and away you go. If you want to be a bit more serious and have only till the weekend to get it sussed then yes a visit to a tackle store would be recommended
Fishing rocky locations in a lot of cases requires minimum terminal tackle ( Swivels, sinkers etc ) because you WILL get snags , you can get Techo and tie on a trace with no swivel. Just have to learn the knot....try search "Lethals knot" on here
Check out this demo from Lethal, bout halfway down the page
You want diagrams mate your in the right place
That's the ticket. Nice one.
Nice Demo. What about 130lb to 15kg with no swivel, whats that knot?
Good lil knot that.
BA - for the windon leader, what length and what line weight do you recommend on say 15kg mainline?
Would say 2 x rod length be sufficent or more?
Actually whats the max length and line weights allowable under IGFA for a windon leader?
off the rocks you have several choices and depends what your fishing over or at
if there is a sandy bottom then a ledger rig with a sand sinker is great....
if foul then a ledger rig will have to employ a gap between the sinker and the first hook ...to over come the seaweed/kelp
also rocks....you will have to perhaps use a ball sinker or something which does not snag so easily...plus using a lighter mono breaking strain for snags etc so you dont lose everything every cast...
a snapper rig is dofferent again and utilises various weights for currents and the likes....plus baits and casting etc....there is a bit to it but when all is said and done a tackle shop in that area will have better advice for you as they know their area....LOCAL KNOWLEDGE...
have a read thru some magazines and you will find loads of info...plus i am sure that people on here with more time will give you better discriptions etc...
good luck tho dude, i am sure you will find out whats best....the fact that your out there trying is 99% of the game...often the weirdest set up is the one which will catch you your first biggie...then you remain confused forever!!! hehe
tell people on here where exactly you are fishing and someone will give you better "local" advice dude.....your in the right place tho bro
I am heading to Tapotupotu Bay, Havent fish it before so any ideas on the Rig. Live for King and do some snapps fish while we wait.
If the swell is a 'no go' then we will head I think to the north cape per haps.
What do you lads think? Where should one head thats getting results
